Even if the police verification is needed, the procedure will be followed up once the passport is issued. Hence, the passport will be dispatched on the third working day after all the paperwork is done.

Documents required for tatkal passport

Tatkal Passport Process

Step-by-step guide on the tatkal passport process:

  1. Create an account on Passport Seva's official website.
  2. Login with your user name and password.
  3. There will be two alternatives available to you: Fresh and Re-Issue. Select the appropriate option.
  4. In the scheme type drop-down menu, choose 'Tatkaal.'
  5. Fill out the application form after downloading it.
  6. Fill out the form online.
  7. Finish the payment process.
  8. Print the receipt for your online payment.
  9. Make an appointment at a Passport Service Kendra near you.

Points to note while visiting the Passport Seva Kendra/ Passport Office for tatkal passport 

While visiting the Passport Office, there are a few things you should keep in mind. The following are the details:

 

  1. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes before your planned appointment time at the Passport Seva Kendra. Also, don't forget to bring your appointment receipt or present the appointment text at the desk.
  2. Bring the necessary documentation with you. Original documents, as well as self-attested copies, are required. For further information, go to www.passportseva.gov.in and look up 'document advisor.'
  3. Carry a current passport-size photograph of the youngster on a white backdrop if the passport is for a minor.
  4. Despite the fact that images will be taken in the center, you must bring two recent colored passport-size photographs with you (on white background).
  5. Only the applicant is permitted to access the passport office. They may, however, be accompanied by senior persons, physically challenged individuals, or minors.
  6. You will be handed a paper token after your documents have been reviewed at PSK. Your application will be processed first by Counter A, then by Counters B and C. Keep a close eye on the token projection panels at all times to see when your application will be completed. Please get an acknowledgment slip from the Exit desk before departing. At the exit counter, you must also fill out a feedback form.
  7. At the Passport Office, you must pay the remaining service charge for Tatkal applications. Please take the payment receipt from the counter after you've made your payment.
  8. Due to additional verifications that must be conducted before such applications can be processed, applicants applying under the "TATKAL" program should expect their application processing at the Passport Office to take up to 2 hours. As a result, "TATKAL" applicants should carefully manage their schedules.
